What's Your Doppelganger Look Like?
I recently watched one of my more recent favorite shows on TV: How I Met Your Mother. I was flipping channels after watching two...hmm...inspiring movies: Courageous and Facing the Giants and saw that HIMYM is on and so I stay on the channel to watch it. After being so dearly inspired by the movies, the episode of HIMYM is about whether or not Marshall and Lily are going to 'try' and have a baby. They decide that they need a 'sign' from above to help them decided to start trying so they are working through what can be that sign. Doppelgangers! That's it! At this point, the group has seen 4 of the 5 doppelgangers. When they find the 5th doppelganger, it'll be time for them to try and conceive a baby.
What is a doppelganger, you ask? Well, by definition, it is: a ghostly double or counterpart of a person.
Back to the show. The group of friends have seen all but Barney's doppelganger who is known to put on costumes to woo women so when they think they find his doppelganger, they don't. So, you ask, what does this have to do with the title...with the moving movies that I watched before hand. WELL...what I didn't tell you was that there is a scene where Ted and Robin are together due to some unfortunate circumstance in Robin's life and Ted gives a little mini speech about doppelgangers. In it, he says, " eventually, over time, we all become our own doppelgangers, completely different people who happen to look like us. Five years ago, you were pretty cool but doppelganger Robin, she's pretty great."
I refer back to the title of this post...What's your doppelganger look like? Five years ago, I'm sure you were a pretty cool person. Since then, we've all hopefully grown, learned lots, gained wisdom, and have gotten closer to God. My question is, what's your doppelganger look like right now? What are you going to look like 5 years from now? Are you going to grow? Gain more wisdom from Christ? Get closer to and seek more of God in your life? Are you going to trust that your life is in His hands? OR are you going to stay dormant in who you are? Not exercise your faith? Be content with your relationship with God? And are you going to go where you want to go, be who you want to be instead of who God wants you to be?
God wants more of us...no, He wants ALL of us. It's up to you to decide how much of yourself you'll give to Him. Give God all of yourself and see 5 years from now how much you'll have grown. See 5 years from now, what direction your life will take when you give God your all, your everything. One of my favorite verses in the Bible is a challenge for all of us to live by. It's simple but it applies. 1 Corinthians 10:31 " So whether you eat or drink or WHATEVER you do, do it ALL for the glory of God."
One last time, I ask,
What's Your Doppelganger Look Like?
